The centre of Edinburgh is just sizzling with Christmas spirit and fun. From the ice rink, helter skelter and Speigeltent in St Andrews Square to the German Market, Big Wheel and waft of roasting chestnuts as you meander along Princes Street. The whole city is alive with good will to all men, and women and children and often well behaved dogs too.
The show this year in the Speigeltent is Scotch & Soda a dark, throbbing, hum of wild physical feats as the cast twist, turn, drop and contort performing seemingly impossible manoeuvres as the audience sit agog. The soundtrack is performed live by a cacophony of instruments creating a sinister, thwack and grunge of noise that suggests something altogether otherworldly. An eye boggler.
